Last night was an incredible showing of local women’s ready-to-wear! The show was opened with Kelly Madden’s Fall/Winter collection, which included several beautiful pieces of outerwear, including a fabulous two-tone coat, and stunning use of teals, blues, and blacks thoughout the collection.
Suka followed with a edgy and fun collection that featured funky piecework, crosses, and denim. The pieces were very wearable and fun, and it’s clear why this line has had such great success in Edmonton. In addition, Suka paired up with local jewelry designer Amor to accessorize her show, and it was a fantastic match!
Kelsey McIntyre’s collection was a good contrast to the previous two, embracing a very feminine silhouette with ruffles, lace, and muted colours. Standout pieces include a deep mauve blazer, romantic pencil skirt, and short flowy dresses. Die-hard fans may have recognized her music choice as being the theme from the BBC adaption of Pride and Predjudice.
Bano eeMee once again proved that he is a master of jackets and leather, showing a collection of swoon-worthy jackets in buttery leather. I was excited to see a fabulous variety of silhouettes, from classic to modern and edgy. For an interesting twist, in addition to black and brown leathers, he also showed several designs in a vibrant dandelion yellow, a sky blue, and a stunning white.
The last collection of the night, LUXX ready to wear, presented a stunning set of dresses, as well as a couple pairs of voluminous pants with amazing architectural detailing. clear themes in the collection included incredible use of drapery, and saturated, rich hues. I loved the fabric choices for this collection, particularly the dense red sequin and the colourful pattern.
